Easter Sermon Notes (Can You Really Believe in the Resurrection?)
Here are the links to the sources for all the documents I mentioned during my sermon on whether or not it is logical to believe in the resurrection of Jesus.
The first link is to the video response I gave to the young man from the intro of the sermon. This video response features some different things than what I said in the sermon. I included a satire video that made its rounds on social media depicting how would have sounded for the disciples to cook up the greatest/worst con of all time: https://youtu.be/4LiAUr9xLfQ
Jewish Antiquities with the corrupted Book 18, Chapter 3 Verse 3: https://penelope.uchicago.edu/josephus/ant-18.html
Jewish Antiquities translated by Shlomo Pines, which preserved Josephus’ original words. This document is a photocopy of Pines’ original paper with lots of footnotes: http://khazarzar.skeptik.net/books/pines01.pdf
Scholars agree Jesus lived
“There is no serious historian who doubts the existence of Jesus. There are a lot of people who want to write sensational books claiming that Jesus didn’t exist, but I don’t know any serious scholar who doubts the existence of Jesus.”
Dr. Bart Ehrman, when interviewed on “Atheist Radio” on December 30th, 2011:(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9CC7qNZkOE)
Scholars agree Jesus died
“Jesus’ death as a consequence of crucifixion is indisputable.”
Gerd Lüdemann. “What Really Happened to Jesus: A Historical Approach to the Resurrection” (1995)
Gary Habermas interview
Habermas is a scholar and historian who has written extensively on the historical evidence of the resurrection of Jesus.

Bart Ehrman debate
This is the video of Ehrman’s debate where he attempts to disprove the resurrection. The video clip I used in the sermon is from around 10:20.
If you’re going to watch anything by Bart Ehrman or any other person who is adamantly denying the existance of God or the resurrection, make sure you also watch videos like the one from Habermas to keep things balanced. Even though Ehrman does not have a good case, his confidence can be beguiling and can have a tendency to make people question things that are historically well documented and logical.
