Childrens Pastor

Cyndi Stephens

Cyndi Stephens began as a member of Wellspring and became the Children’s Pastor in January 2014. She has been married to Scott since 1989. They have two children (Katie and Thomas), one son-in-law (Nate), and two grandchildren (Esther and Andrew). She loves kids and is passionate about working with her team to create an environment where all kids can experience God through His Word and the power of His Holy Spirit.

Cyndi has served with children for over 20 years; beginning as a volunteer leader in Kids Church. She believes that parents are the spiritual leaders of their children and is committed to supporting them as they raise their kids to know and follow Jesus. Cyndi also serves as the Connections Pastor at Wellspring. She loves helping people get connected, find their place in our church family, and use their gifts to serve God.

Cyndi has a degree in marketing/management from UNT, served with her husband and children as a missionary in Honduras, speaks Spanish, worked as a school teacher for 11 years, and has a heart for sharing Jesus with others.

What is your favorite family tradition?

My kids are grown now, but when they were younger Friday nights were always pizza and movie night. When we lived in Honduras you couldn’t just order a pizza to be delivered or buy one in the frozen food section. So, my kids and I learned how to make dough from scratch and had packages of pepperonis sent to us from grandparents! The tradition carried on even after we moved back to the U.S. but Little Caesars replaced our home made version..

Who is your least favorite superhero and why?

Hulk is not my favorite. I think it’s because he’s always so grumpy!

What is your favorite scripture/life verse?

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

If you were trapped in a zombie apocalypse and you were only allowed one weapon to defend yourself, what weapon would that be?

I think I’d go Princess Leia and opt for a lightsaber.
